A Capitol Fourth
Independence Day! Locals recommended the village celebrations with their high school marching bands and kid’s carnivals. A couple of my Missouri friends said I should see the big event at the Capitol. Resolved to my patriotic duty, after lunch I walked a little over an hour through drowsy McLean to the nearest Metro subway station, and in half an hour exited onto the increasingly crowded Smithsonian part of the National Mall. My photos and a couple of short video clips are here. Some official photos and clips are here, and other nice photos are here.

WOW! An amazing gathering. I’m sure the solitude of your apartment was a welcome relief after the crush of humanity. I enjoyed your photos!

Hi Greg,
I saw you post this over on Judy O’s page. After reading through most of it and seeing the “Low return on investment” comment about blogging I thought I should leave a comment.
Looks like you had a good trip out east and a good 4th. Glad to see you adapting to your new area. Thank you for sharing!
