Home improvement
I have invested plenty of sweat improving my house for the next owner. Imagine that someone should find my standard of living inadequate! Hmf, my carpet served eight kids, fifteen adults, three dogs, and many guests for twenty-six years. What’s wrong with growing soybeans in the living room? I admit some past follies, such as attaching a shower door frame with epoxy cement instead of silicon sealant.
I paid for that Saturday with a couple of hours of delicate chisel work to make way for new doors. Thanks to professional help, home improvement has proceeded and will complete even after I leave in a week.
Also with sweat and lots of help, trash and treasure have left my house. I got and kept too much junk and people gave me a lot of stuff. Thanks to craigslist, strangers, relatives, gullible friends, the Salvation Army, and Goodwill Industries, I am happy with the dispersal. Most stuff went to people who wanted it or said they can use it.

Saturday, many students who received high school diplomas via our independent study school came to town to have a real graduation ceremony. Most who came were from the midwest US. One traveled from the United Arab Emirates. Afterward, I had a wonderful time leading a student’s family around the University campus. The June afternoon was delicious. The father commented, “This must be a wonderful place to work!” I agreed heartily with him. I also felt an uncanny preview of nostalgia.
Sunday, the kids finished building the swing. They gave it safety tests for velocity and weight. It proved popular with all ages. Service can be great fun!

We also talked about treasure, that by choice or necessity you will invest all in some person, activity, or thing. Exhibit: Rocks I bought in 1969 that might be from the moon.
